Bone Grafting in Troy
At Degenhardt Dental, our dentists have the skills, training, and expertise to offer comprehensive implant dentistry, including bone grafting, at our Troy, MI, dental office. Bone grafting makes dental implants accessible to everyone, even patients who’ve suffered from bone loss and may have been told they weren’t good candidates for dental implants.
When Is Bone Grafting Required?
To successfully support dental implants, the patient must have enough healthy bone structure for effective implant placement. The titanium tooth implant fuses and integrates with the bone naturally through an osseointegration process that allows it to replace your root.
If you lack healthy bone due to denture wear, trauma, or periodontal disease, a bone grafting procedure fills in the missing bone structure so we can eventually place a dental implant.
What Happens During a Bone Grafting Procedure?
During a bone grafting procedure, our dentists add bone material to the deteriorated area of your jawbone during a simple surgical procedure. The bone material will integrate with your jawbone to rebuild the structure, which takes three to six months.
Once your jawbone is fully healed from bone grafting surgery, it will be adequately prepared to effectively support a dental implant.
